Heat Pumps Make Their Debut at The 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022
On July 19, 2022, the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) announced that the 19th Olympic Games in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China, which was originally scheduled for 2022, would be postponed until September 23 to October 8, 2023.

In the supporting facilities of the Hangzhou Asian Games Village district, all water heaters use air source heat pump water heaters with a capacity of 200 liters. During the nearly 30-day period of the Asian Games, almost 200,000 kWh of electricity can be saved compared to electric water heaters. Industry insiders said, "Heat pump heating is about three times more efficient than electric heating. Compared with the burning coal, the emission of heat pump heating can be reduced by 70% -80%." Currently, the penetration rate of heat pump heating and hot water products in China is about 3%. The initial investment that is slightly higher in equipment, occupation of a larger area and the need for professional installation are all factors that restrict its promotion.
